We cover every stage of how to trade. Gain insights, tips and adopt the skills you need to become a Star Trader.
The Nexus Exchange emerged after the Collapse, when the last great interstellar governments fell and left a power vacuum stretching across dozens of systems. In the ruins, autonomous market engines, originally built to stabilise trade routes began to evolve, linking themselves into a single vast economic intelligence that now spans the galaxy.
This living network dictates the rise and fall of worlds. Factions gather around it: planetary alliances seeking stability, megacorporations hungry for dominance, syndicates thriving in the shadows, and independent traders trying to carve out a future of their own. Every commodity within the Exchange carries history, conflict, and consequence, and every decision a player makes becomes part of the ongoing struggle to shape civilisation’s next chapter.
You begin your journey with 10,000 Kryll (Kr), a standardised grant issued to every new trader entering the Nexus Exchange. This initial balance gives you enough room to take early risks, test market behaviour, and establish your footing before the system begins responding to your decisions.
Kryll is the universal trade unit recognised across all connected systems. Created during the post‑collapse stabilisation era, it was adopted by the autonomous market engines as the baseline currency for valuation, settlement, and intersystem economic modelling.
News events are the heartbeat of the Nexus Exchange, and understanding them is what separates a surviving trader from a successful one. The market engines were designed to interpret information at extraordinary speed, modelling risk, scarcity, and opportunity the moment a new report enters the network. As a result, the Exchange rarely moves at random; it moves because something has happened somewhere, and the system is already adjusting to it.
Different categories of events create different kinds of pressure. A political crisis on a frontier world might cause transport delays, pushing up the value of fast‑delivery commodities. A breakthrough in synthetic fuel could depress traditional energy markets overnight. Corporate espionage might destabilise tech assets, while a planetary disaster could send raw materials soaring as reconstruction begins. Even seemingly minor stories, an unexpected election result, a failed shipment inspection, a rumour of unrest, can ripple through the system, shifting prices in ways that only attentive traders will spot early.
Reading the news is not just about staying informed; it is how you anticipate the Exchange’s next move. By recognising patterns in event types, understanding which factions benefit or suffer, and learning how assets historically respond, you gain the ability to position yourself ahead of the curve. The traders who thrive are those who treat information as a resource in its own right, one that is every bit as valuable as the Kryll in their account.
Making your first trade in the Nexus Exchange is about learning how the market thinks. With your starting 10,000 Kryll, begin by examining a single commodity that has recently moved in price, ideally one influenced by a clear news event. This gives you context: you are not trading blindly, but responding to something the market engines have already begun modelling. Check its recent performance, look at how related assets have behaved, and decide whether you believe the current movement will continue or reverse. Your goal is not to predict perfectly, but to understand why the price is shifting at all.
Once you have chosen an asset, commit to a small, deliberate position by clicking ‘Add’, then entering a quantity in the ‘Trade Assets’ panel and finally clicking the ‘Buy’ button. Whe you click ‘Add’ from the assets panel, the price you added your asset to the trade panel, is locked in. Once you have committed, The Exchange will immediately begin tracking your trade, adjusting your portfolio as the market reacts to new information. Watch how the price moves in the minutes and hours after your purchase; this is your first lesson in how sensitive the system is to external events. If the asset rises, consider whether to take early profit or hold for a longer trend. If it falls, decide whether the movement is temporary noise or a sign that the underlying event is more significant than you expected. Your first trade is not about making a fortune, it is about learning how the Exchange breathes.
